Sue Rudland is an artist working from her studio in Silverstone, Northamptonshire. Her work is figurative and features people and food in oils, pastels and mixed media. Through her paintings she evokes memories of the tastes, aromas and colours of food, be it a humble turnip, ripe tomatoes or a special glass of wine.
She paints portraits and people enjoying meals or drinks with friends or family. She is currently working on a series of paintings of waiters seen on her travels.
Trips to the South of France have inspired paintings of grapevines through the seasons. Sue is currently experimenting with mixed media overpainted with oil glazes to achieve the rich colours and various textures on the leaves and gnarled trunks of the vines. This has resulted in several large triptych works over two metres wide.
Sue studied at The West of England College of Art and at Goldsmiths College, London. Her work has been exhibited at The Mall Galleries and Northampton Town and County Art Society and is in private collections both at home and abroad.
