"I am inspired by how we experience our world and what science (particularly quantum physics) can tell us about it. Much of my work explores energy rather than solidity. Using metal rods, fine wires, and natural materials, I create ephemeral sculptures – placing these seemingly delicate structures in forests and other natural environments. The sculptures are glimpsed from the corner of your eye, there/not there, as you pass by and see them from different angles. They interact with light, weather, and their surroundings. This there/not there quality has also led me to consider what inspires myth and bring other elements and inspiration to my work.
I usually create large outdoor sculptures, but for a change of pace I also make small sculptures in sterling silver wire with semi-precious beads, mainly based on insects and similar creatures."
